Why copy editors?

2009starmemoFollowing up on last week’s announcement that the Toronto Star was outsourcing its copy editing because it is not a “core function” of the newspaper, a Star editor has marked up Publisher John Cruickshank’s memo announcing the changes and passed it along to the Torontoist.
